QuarterWare Skinning 101

Building a QuarterWare skin is a simple process that involves creating two files: a bitmap (.bmp) file that is the actual skin image you wish to apply, and a .qsd file that defines the active areas on the bitmap.

The bitmaps can be a simple or as complex as you like, and can be created with just about any graphics software from the simple Windows Paint program to complex programs like MacroMedia Fireworks, Adobe PhotoShop, or CorelPaint.  You can assign a transparent color to your bitmap to give it the appearance of being round, triangular, or any shape you can imagine.

The .qsd file is a simple text file with a list of parameters and arguments that help the QuarterWare teller figure out where the buttons on the interface are place.
